Fourth Annual Warren World Benefit - October 6, 2007

Saturday, October 6, 2007 Warren World Inc. will host its annual music benefit to raise money for children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life threatening diseases that insurance or other financial assistance doesn't cover.

This year's beneficiaries will be Nathan Eslami and Ke-Ke Townsend of Birmingham, AL. Both children are currently responding well to the treatments they have had. However their medical bills are in the millions. Nathan's family lost their family home and has recently moved.

Dine, Dance, Drink and Donate; a Warren World Benefit for "Ke-Ke"

Warren World, Inc. is hosting a benefit to raise money for six year old daughter of Lonnie and Gail Townsend, Tykesha "Ke-ke" Townsend of Birmingham, AL on November 5, 2006.

Within the same week that Tykesha's father, Lonnie Townsend had his leg amputated from chronic diabetes, her family was devastated with the news that what was thought to be a sprained ankle for Tykesha was in fact Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (Muscle Cancer). This is a very aggressive cancer that only occurs in children. Tykesha is responding well to her treatments, although the cancer has spread to her stomach, kidneys and lymph nodes.

Warren World, Inc. normally hosts an annual music event to raise funds and awareness for children undergoing alternative methods of cancer treatments, however when the Warren World board heard of this family's plight, they voted on hosting an event for Ke-Ke.

An anonymous donor has donated a 1991 Honda Accord to Warren World, Inc. to be auctioned off at the event and the money is earmarked to pay the application fee for filing with the IRS for 501c(3) status. Any monies over the fee will be split between Nathan Eslami and Tykesha Townsend. Warren World hosted an annual event earlier this year for Nathan.

The November 5th event will be held at (Local) Restaurant and Cocktail Bar in the Vestavia City Center. Award winning Chef, Anthony Marini has donated his restaurant for the event and will provide a buffet. MBC United Distributors has donated wine, Sysco Foods has also agreed to help with donations of food that Chef Marini will prepare. Entertainment will be provided by international touring artist, David Anderson. David Anderson was a member of the award winning band Brother Cane, has toured with Be Be and Ce Ce Winans and appears on the Gold record of Brian McKnight. There will be a Silent Auction at the event with such items as a "one of a kind" Daisy Rock guitar, donated by Daisy Rock Guitars, art, photography, gift certificates and more!

All proceeds from the event will be used to the help the Townsend family with the expenses involved in caring for Ke-ke. This family has no insurance.

Local Baby Focus of Fundraiser, Birmingham, AL

Local nonprofit organization, WarrenWorld, Inc. was founded in memory of beloved Birmingham musician, artist, writer, educator and business professional Warren Henderson.  Prior to his death in 2002, Warren dreamed of helping children and their parents who were suffering through the stress and strain of having a terminal disease and choosing treatment not covered by insurance.

Keeping his memory and dream alive, WarrenWorld, Inc. hosts an annual fundraising event to assist these families.  This year the focus will be on Nathan Eslami, a local baby suffering with LangerHans Histiocytosis.  Nathan turned one year old on June 30, 2006 and has spent the majority of his one year in hospitals and has undergone five different types of chemotherapy, had his spleen removed and will now have bone marrow and blood platelet transplants.  Already his medical bills have topped 3.5 million dollars.  For this transplant Nathan and his parents will have to travel to Minnesota and could possibly be away from home and family for up to six months.

Nathan’s parents Mary Ann and Shirokh Eslami are co-owners of The Southside Market, a small corner store on Birmingham’s Southside.  They never fail to greet you with a kind word and smile despite their trials.
